Your Roadtrip Sydney to Hawkesbury NSW Australia offers a great opportunity to explore beautiful landscapes, historic towns, and the Hawkesbury River. Sydney to Windsor:
Begin your road trip from Sydney, heading northwest on the M2 or M7 motorways. Take the Windsor Road exit to reach the historic town of Windsor. Explore Windsor’s colonial architecture and visit the Hawkesbury Regional Museum to learn about the area’s history.
Windsor to Richmond:
Continue along Windsor Road to reach Richmond. Visit Richmond’s historic district, including the Richmond Gaol and St. Peter’s Church. If it’s open to the public, consider taking a tour of the RAAF Base Richmond.
Richmond to Kurrajong:
Head further north on Bells Line of Road to reach Kurrajong, a nice part of the Hawkesbury, renowned for its lush orchards and breathtaking vistas. As you travel, consider stopping at one of the inviting roadside stalls offering fresh, locally grown produce—perfect for a delicious snack or to take home.
Kurrajong to Bilpin:
Continue on Bells Line of Road to Bilpin which is famous for its apple orchards, so be sure to try some local apple products. Visit the Bilpin Cider Company or one of the orchards for apple picking if in season.
Bilpin to Wisemans Ferry:
From Bilpin, take the Bells Line of Road back to Richmond, and then head east on the B59 towards Wisemans Ferry. This scenic drive takes you through lush forests and provides stunning views of the Hawkesbury River.
Wisemans Ferry:
Explore Wisemans Ferry, on the banks of the Hawkesbury River. Visit the Convict Trail Museum to learn about the area’s history. Consider taking the Wisemans Ferry car ferry across the river for a unique experience.
Wisemans Ferry to Brooklyn:
Continue south on the B83 to reach Brooklyn. Brooklyn is a gateway to the Hawkesbury River and offers opportunities for boat tours and water-based activities.
Enjoy a meal at one of the waterfront restaurants or the pub, The Anglers Rest. If you have time, take the ferry to Dangar Island, a 10-minute ferry ride departing from the wharf beside the Hawkesbury River Station. Allow at least 2.5 to 3 hours to visit.
For the true adventurers, drive on to this wonderful hidden gem known as Patonga, here goes…
Brooklyn to Patonga:
Head south along the Pacific Highway and then take the turnoff to Patonga, a peaceful coastal village where you can relax on the beach or enjoy a fabulous meal with friends at waterside The Boathouse at Patonga.
Patonga to Pearl Beach:
Drive along Patonga Drive to reach the nearby Pearl Beach. Explore the picturesque Pearl Beach and take a walk in the nearby Brisbane Water National Park. There’s an awesome pub at Pearl Beach
