About this listing

HERITAGE COTTAGE | AUTHENTIC COUNTRY STAY | FOODIES DESTINATION

Woolbrook Cottage is a lovingly restored 1890’s heritage cottage oozing country charm, and nestled amongst the picturesque Southern Tablelands in the village of Taralga. And there’s a lot to like here.

Taralga is a gourmet destination. It has gained recognition for its exciting food scene due to its prime lamb, beef, berries, olives and the talented presence of renowned Aussie chefs and restaurateurs like Hugh Wennerbom of The Argyle Inn (hatted), Brenden Gradidge of Grandettie, Evan Larger of Laggan Pantry and more. If city slickers are searching for award-winning cafes and restaurants focusing on fresh, locally sourced ingredients and innovative flavour combos, Taralga and surrounds offer a delightful culinary experience.

Staying at Woolbrook Cottage closeby, means you’ll get to smack your lips around impressive Australian cuisine, taste the aroma of artisanal coffees and crack a warm, flaky pastry, then it’s just a stroll home to relax by the fire with a generous decanter of port. There’s nothing better than curling up with a book on a soft velvet lounge, warmed by the wood heater.

Woolbrook Cottage caters beautifully for 6 guests, with three spacious bedrooms (two queens and a double) one ensuite and another bathroom outside with a lovely heated towel rail. It’s pet and child friendly, so let your dogs roam free on the large secure block while the kids enjoy the tree house and everyone is happy!

Inside you’ll discover that vintage and homemade is honoured. The warm patina of recycled furniture and period character adds nostalgia, sustainability and charm, and quiet nooks tell a story with tributes to the family farming history at the cottage. Your host’s family has been in the Taralga region for almost a century! There’s nothing better than curling up with a book on the soft velvet lounge, a glass of port generously supplied and being warmed by a wood heater.

Guests enjoy exploring Taralga’s rich history and heritage buildings, its welcoming atmosphere and stunning, natural surroundings – rolling green hills, lush farmland.

When you’re not relaxing on the lounge or verandah or your super comfy bed, Woolbrook Cottage is a short stroll to excellent gourmet shopping. You’ll find award winning Hannafords olive oil, superb hand-crafted wines from Lochani vineyard, jams, honey and artisanal goods.

Woolbrook Cottage is great location for Taralga Wildlife Park and local events – truffle hunting, bike races and festivals showcasing the vibrant community spirit such as Taralga Art and Agricultural Shows and the Australia Day Rodeo weekend. You’ll have fun celebrating brilliant local artists, rural traditions and programmes packed with fun, music and of course…food.

Taralga is about a half an hour’s drive from Goulburn and is the traditional land of the Gundungurra people.
