LEGENDARY PUB | TOP 5 BEER GARDEN NSW | ON THE CLARENCE RIVER
Sit in the leafy, shaded beer garden enjoying the quiet life on the Clarence River at The Ulmarra Hotel with a pint or a crisp vino awaiting a Sunday roast or something else a bit fancier from the menu to look forward to.
Arriving at the Ulmarra Hotel by road you’ll clap eyes on this majestic, quintessential Australian pub built on the corner of the aptly named Coldstream & River Streets, during Federation. Arriving by boat, you’ll sidle up to a fabulous beer garden (voted in top 5 in NSW), that leads you into the Ulmarra Hotel with the coldest beers around and a welcome “on the house” Travellarks drink!
Standard pub grub it isn’t! The Chef masters magic in this humble inn. The menu includes dishes like “Italian homemade mozzarella cheese, tomatoes, home grown arugula (rocket) with Spanish sherry dressing drizzled from one side of the plate to the other, where a lovely ciabatta rests” . The usual gastro pub grub is here in lashings of size and quality. Leave room for homemade desserts and ice-creams because you will NOT resist. The Ulmarra Hotel is a dining experience you won’t forget anytime soon.
Did we mention very affordable? You couldn’t crack a $100 bill for a night, leaving you stacks for the kitchen, bar and local village stores. You might have driven a long way for your scallops, steak and cold beers, so a stay at the Ulmarra Hotel is sublime.
There are 4 comfortable, pub-style Queen rooms accommodate 2 people with a queen bed and shared bathroom facilities. Each room has a bedside table, digital TV, towels and linen provided. Free parking is provided for guests. Up to 22 people can stay in twin, double, queen and family rooms.
There’s a clean, simple, and comfortable airiness here. Fresh linen, rooms with feature windows, or a fireplace, each has its own personality. Guests have a bird’s eye view of Coldstream and Rivers Streets or the Clarence River.
Meet Dane Baird, your jovial Publican whose mini-pub empire is the heartbeat of the Ulmarra Hotel. Dane Baird is one minute greeting guests in his Hi Viz shirt, next minute pulling beers for the eternally thirsty crowd, clearing away plates and keeping a keen eye over his happy crowd, stopping for a yarn. His Mum even has the family’s crown jewels in a glass, locked cabinet for all to admire but don’t ask if they’re for sale. As if!
Take up any excuse for a gathering: private dining, weddings, engagements, a celebratory wake, birthdays or a just a big night out.
Because of the proximity to Pacific Highway, the Ulmarra Hotel is the perfect place to rest after a long day of driving and after a big meal of scallops, steak and cold beers, who wouldn’t enjoy a comfy bed in a classic Australian pub?
