This historic destination is perfect for eating, playing, and staying. Nestled next to the Clarence River, this edge-of-the-village pub strikes just the right balance of old-world charm and modern comfort. Located 12 km north of Grafton, the Ulmarra Hotel boasts a beautiful setting on the banks of the mighty Clarence River, offering much more than just accommodation.

As you arrive by road, you’ll clap your eyes on this majestic, quintessential Australian pub built on the corner of the aptly named Coldstream and River Streets during Federation. Experience a historic stay—Ulmarra Village is classified by the National Trust as one of the best examples of a 19th-century river port in Australia—blended with honest hospitality and warmth. Dine by the curve of the Clarence River in one of NSW’s Top 5 Beer Gardens before settling at a canopied table with a round of beverages and a sumptuous gastro pub feast.

Whether you opt for classic pub grub (which it certainly isn’t—this food is faultless and generously features local produce) or indulge in the Chef’s sashimi tuna with wakame, pickled ginger, and sesame soy wasabi mayo, you’re in for a treat. Don’t forget to leave room for the bulging cabinet of homemade puddings, slices, and ice creams—just like grandma used to make! Did we mention it’s very affordable? The comfortable, pub-style Twin Room accommodates two people with two single beds and shared bathroom facilities. The room includes a bedside table, digital TV, and all towels and linen provided.
