About this listing

STEP INTO NATURE |  FARM.BUSH.RIVER  |ART RETREATS

Tin Dragon Eco Retreat offer friendly, thoughtful hospitality and embraces the principles of eco-tourism in a profoundly peaceful spot on 36 private acres in Branxholm. It’s a mere 75 mins from Launceston and only 8 mins from Derby.

It is here in the North East of Tasmania, you’ll discover great natural beauty, best preserved heritage places plus world class mountain bike trails. Tin Dragon is only 500m from the MBT Trail to Derby.

Tin Dragon Eco Retreat has six self-contained cottages with one bathroom each and welcomes guests with accommodation for singles, couples or families with a total capacity for 18 guests.

Five cottages overlook the river and The Settlers Hut is in native bushland. There are three cottages for two guests each with heated outdoor spas and two cottages with two bedrooms sleeping up to 4 guests each with different configurations. And finally, there’s the quaint Settlers Hut that offers Blue Derby budget accommodation just 8km from the trail head, perfect for four adventurers or mountain bikers needing four single beds.

You can view the pricing for individual cottages and book direct on Tin Dragon Trail Eco Retreat  website – simply click on our Book Now button.

Facilities also cater for wellness, art or photography retreats and groups of nature seekers and lovers of sustainable living with respect for our environment. The historic heritage of Chinese tin miners lends itself to the naming of Tin Dragon, and its cottages: Ah Moy, Ah Ping, Fon Hock Spa Cottage, Chintock Spa Cottage, Ah Back Spa Cottage and the Settlers Budget Hut. So altogether Tin Dragon Cottages property can accommodate up to 18 guests, including an accessible 2-bedroom cottage, Ah Moy.

Immerse yourselves in the calmness of nature, green pastures, the joys of a happy Alpaca Farm, diverse wildlife and the pristine Ringarooma river for trout fishing, kayaking and fossicking, babbling through the property.  Imagine a picnic by the river, witnessing a Tassie sunset or laying down on a big blanket under a big sky before an obligatory nap with the sounds of the bush, a full tummy, and the comfort of rippling water sound as you drift off…zzzz

At Tin Dragon Eco Retreat, it is impossible not to feel the joy of nature, walk peaceful bush trails filled with birdsong, and unwind in solitude with your soul mate. Or make friends with the alpacas, fly fish, fossick for gold, kayak or challenge yourself on mountain bike trails.

All cottages are well insulated with double-glazed windows and are heated with a cosy gas fire or heat pumps for wintry days; are powered by onsite solar PV, Tesla batteries and micro-hydro power. Most cottages have free WiFi. Tin Dragon Cottages have recently signed up for Starlink so they could improve the internet access.

Each cottage has a well-equipped kitchen, separate bathroom with double showers, cosy gas fires for warmth in winter and laundry facilities. Plus a TV & DVD if you haven’t passed into delirious sleep following busy bushwalking and discovery days with mountains, waterfalls, cycling, kayaking, fishing or just soaking in the heritage walks which is sparking your curiosity… nothing too strenuous right?

No doubt you’ll have filled the fridge with produce you’ve purchased from local providores and if not, there’s an abundance from the local store not too far away – refer to our Things to Do around Dorset.

Your Tin Dragon Eco cottages have separate bathrooms with double shower, and a private outdoor BBQ and spas outside the three studio spa cottages..

Tin Dragon Eco Retreat also host regular art and wellness retreats and have partnered with Scott Murphy at Tasmanian Fly Fishing for brown and rainbow trout fishing. Tin Dragon hosts organise scheduled airport shuttle to/from Launceston Airport, all materials, excursions and meals included. See Services.

The new Tin Dragon conference venue is ideal for meetings, conferences, retreats and workshops. The workshop has capacity for up to 18 persons. So you can invite guest speakers, add in some team-building activities and ask them to help you design a unique creative experience for your group.

Tin Dragon Eco Retreat has “land-for-wildlife” registration, and only allow pets with strict conditions – guests must contact Christine, Graham or James before bringing any pets.
