“We arrived with the fireplace already lit and the heater on. We were given gifts of local salted butter, fresh sour dough and farm laid eggs, freshly cut parsley, local honey, freshly ground coffee, local cherry jam and a bottle of local wine, which we ended up buying more of from the winery over the weekend! There was also biscuits to enjoy with variety of tea and even a jar of marshmallows for the fire! Thank you Suez for all the extra touches. We loved it!” Kristie, June 2024
DISCOVER THE WOW:
THE EXPERIENCE:
Rich in character and charm, the Old Brick Pu 2594 offers an adults-only historic escape. Built in 1870, this beautifully transformed pub blends old-world charm with modern amenities. It features two inviting bedrooms, making it perfect for couples or solo travelers seeking a peaceful retreat. If only the walls could talk—there’s so much history here, making it an unforgettable destination.
During renovations, many amazing discoveries were uncovered, such as 1830s mud-covered convict bricks, salt-block-bag-lined walls, and even layers of old wallpaper. To add to the mystery, an 1898 penny was found hidden in the architraves. Today, the Old Brick Pub 2594 stands as a gleaming gem in the Gold Rush town of Young. Surrounded by stunning gardens, it’s also home to friendly alpacas and horses.
Modern Comfort Meets Heritage
Suez, the dedicated owner and artisan jeweller, has lovingly preserved the pub’s heritage. At the same time, she’s added modern luxuries to ensure a comfortable stay. Guests can enjoy super comfy beds and a delightful range of gourmet goodies. These include local treats from Hilltops Grove Estate Garibaldi Wine, Ballinaclash Jam, Poppas Dark Coated Cherry Chocolates, and Hilltops honey. Additionally, you can sip on complimentary Bushranger Tea or freshly ground Art of Espresso coffee, all paired with Riverina Fresh milk.
For an extra special touch, guests can pre-order cheese boxes from Grazeaway when booking. These are perfect for enjoying a wine in the sunshine or taking a picturesque walk to local cafes. The pub is ideally located on a walking path, leading you past the creek to delicious food, coffee, and Young’s renowned cherries, all just minutes away.
Explore the Town and Beyond
After a day of exploration, return to the pub for a cosy fire. Relax further by listening to a vinyl record while savouring a cool-climate wine sourced nearby. With plenty of fun festivals and outdoor activities, there’s always something to enjoy in Young. The Old Brick Pub 2594 is just 3 km from Grove Estate Winery and opposite the Lambing Flat Gold Diggings and nature reserve. Both are ideal for a leisurely picnic.
The Old Brick Pub 2594 honors the Traditional Custodians of the land—the Wiradjuri People—recognizing their deep connection to land, water, and community, and paying respect to Elders past, present, and emerging.
