DISCOVER ZEN | OASIS OF SOLITUDE | WALKS & WATERWAYS

“This was an absolute amazing experience. We loved the stay and would highly recommend this stay. EVERYTHING was thought of and more that I couldn’t even imagine. I want to move in full time, I loved it!! I’m already raving to people I know in town about it (I’m a former Forrest resident)” Ben, August 2024

THE EXPERIENCE:

Forrest Haus Retreat offers an exceptional escape in Victoria’s stunning landscape, blending adventure with tranquillity in a meticulously designed luxurious sanctuary. Nestled at the foothills of a rainforest and steeped in local history as part of the Forrest History Walk, this architecturally designed 3-bedroom haven promises a memorable stay. Located within reach via the Great Ocean Road or through the picturesque Otways hinterland, the journey to Forrest sets the stage for the retreat’s luxury allure.

Your drive from Melbourne may stretch beyond 2 hours with irresistible stops along the scenic route. Guests are welcomed through a distinctive “statement door” into open, inviting spaces that reflect a deep appreciation for both contemporary comfort and historical legacy. Originally established in 1903, Forrest Haus has been revitalized by passionate Hosts Lisa and Matt, who collaborated with local architects and artisans to imbue the property with sustainable elegance. From bespoke furniture by local designers like Jack Auld to unique lighting pieces from David Trubridge, every detail fosters a sense of authenticity and connection rarely found in holiday rentals.

Forrest Haus features 3 bedrooms, including a unique sleeping arrangement with a Sway Lamp in the triple-bunk bedroom, designed by former RMIT Melbourne industrial designer, Nick Rennie. Art enthusiasts will appreciate works by Melbourne artist Rone, adding a cultural touch to the dining and bedroom spaces.

Guests enjoy full access to the property (including bike shed) and a well-equipped kitchen stocked with essentials and modern amenities throughout. The cosy living area offers heating and a fireplace for warmth during cooler months, artworks and artisan designed features throughout. You won’t be left wondering about the luxe touches: complimentary breakfast supplies, T2 teas & Hunted & Gathered hot cacao, pantry supplies filled with condiments & essentials, marshmallows for the outdoor fire pit, Otway Distillery Limoncello (sample) in the Cocktail station, Leif pamper products, Nak hair products. Post-adventure relaxation sink into the bath with a menu of products such as Epsom salts, L’Occitane & Sukin Aromatherapy whilst reading the latest Frankie, Grand Designs & AMB magazines & Google music playing.

Forrest Haus has a commitment to sustainability extending to its gardens featuring native Australian plants from Otway Greening Nursery, supporting local conservation efforts and enhancing the natural beauty of the surroundings. Whether you’re drawn to explore the nearby rainforest, indulge in local culinary delights or seek adrenaline-pumping outdoor activities, Forrest Haus Retreat provides a perfect base.

For mountain biking enthusiasts you can wash that dirty mountain biking gear in the wash bay after hiking or biking. Families will love the equipment for infants and children along with books, games, toys & art materials.

Here, every moment is an opportunity to savour the comfort, sights, sounds, and adventures of a landscape that beckons exploration and relaxation alike. Immerse yourself in the unique blend of history, artistry, and natural beauty that defines Forrest Haus Retreat—a place far from ordinary, where every detail is crafted to inspire admiration and respect for the surroundings.
